A Valuable Gift

Some gifts, like authority, may not seem exciting but are useful.

Materials:

Wrapped light bulb

Instructions

1. Have another leader bring in the wrapped light bulb as a “gift” for you. Open it excitedly in front of the students.
2. Ask: A light bulb? Is this a silly gift? What are light bulbs good for?
3. Explain that just like light bulbs, some gifts (like authority) may not seem exciting but are very useful.
4. Read Romans 13:1 and explain that authority is a gift from God, meant to guide and protect us.
