Object of the Game
To avoid being tagged.
Equipment Needed
None
How to Play:
- Have all players stand an equal distance apart in a grid pattern, facing the same direction, with arms extended. This setup is called “streets.”
- When the players turn 90 degrees to the right and extend their arms again, this setup becomes “alleys.”
- Designate one player as IT and another as the runner to be chased by IT.
- IT chases the runner through the grid while the game leader calls “streets” or “alleys,” causing the players in the grid to rotate, changing the path available to the runner and IT.
- If IT tags the runner within 30 seconds, IT’s team earns a point.
- If the runner avoids being tagged for 30 seconds, no points are awarded.
- After each round, select a new IT and a new runner, and repeat the game.
Winning
The team with the most points at the end of all rounds wins.
Pro Tips
- To increase difficulty, speed up the pace of calling “streets” and “alleys.”
- Encourage players in the grid to stay alert and respond quickly to changes, creating more obstacles for IT and the runner.
- Rotate IT and runner roles frequently to keep everyone involved.
