Object of the Game:
To score the most runs possible.
Equipment Needed:
- 1 basketball
- A gym
How to Play:
- Divide the group into two teams: one team is “at bat,” and the other is in the field.
- The team at bat lines up along one baseline of the gym. The first player in line is the “batter.”
- The batter rolls the basketball anywhere in the gym, while the fielders (the other team) are spread out and ready to retrieve the ball.
- A designated “shooter” is selected from the fielders by the game leader.
- Once the batter rolls the ball, the fielders work together to pass it to the shooter.
- Meanwhile, the batter runs to the opposite end of the gym and back, trying to return before the shooter makes a basket.
- If the shooter makes a basket before the batter returns, the batter is out.
- If the batter successfully runs to the opposite end of the gym and back before the basket is made, they score a run for their team.
- The inning ends after three outs, and the next team takes a turn “at bat.”
- Repeat the process until each team has had an equal number of innings or until time runs out.
Winning:
The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.
Pro Tips:
- To increase the challenge, consider varying the distance for the shooter or adding obstacles for the batter.
- Ensure safety by clearly marking boundaries and instructing players not to collide during the game.
