Beach Ball Boogie

Objective:

Score goals by passing the beach ball and getting it into your team’s basket or goal without letting it touch the ground.

Materials Needed:

  • One beach ball
  • Two laundry baskets, boxes, or basketball hoops (as goals)

Game Setup:

  1. Divide students into two teams.
  2. Place a laundry basket, box, or basketball hoop on each side of the playing area to serve as goals for each team.

How to Play:

  1. The game begins with a beach ball placed in the center of the playing area.
  2. Teams try to score by passing the beach ball to teammates and ultimately getting it into their team’s goal (the laundry basket, box, or hoop).
  3. Players may pass the ball to other teammates but cannot run while holding it.
  4. If the ball touches the ground, possession is given to the other team.
  5. Teams must continue passing and working together to score without letting the beach ball fall to the ground.
  6. The game continues until a set number of points are reached or for a designated time period.

Pro Tips:

  • Encourage gentle, controlled passes to avoid overly aggressive play.
  • Make sure there is enough space between players and goals to prevent crowding and collisions.
  • Use a lightweight beach ball to ensure the ball moves slowly and safely, minimizing the chance of injury.
  • Monitor players to ensure they aren’t running while holding the ball and that they follow the passing rules.
