Objective:
Avoid being tagged by forming “clumps” (groups of linked students) or outrunning IT.
Materials Needed:
- None
Game Setup:
- Choose two students to be IT.
- All other students will spread out and prepare to run.
How to Play:
- The game begins with the two IT students chasing the other players, trying to tag them.
- Players can avoid being tagged by either outrunning IT or by linking arms with others to form a group (clump) of a designated number of students.
- The game leader calls out a number (e.g., “The number is three”), and all students who form clumps with the specified number of players (in this case, three) are safe from being tagged.
- The number changes throughout the game, so players must continuously adapt and form new clumps of the specified size to remain safe.
- Any player who is tagged becomes part of the IT team and helps tag other students.
- The game ends when all players have been tagged.
Pro Tips:
- Ensure there is enough space for players to run safely without bumping into walls or each other.
- Encourage players to be gentle when linking arms to avoid pulling or pushing others.
- Remind players not to run too fast or recklessly to prevent accidents.
- Monitor the game closely, especially as clumps form and break, to ensure that everyone is playing safely and fairly.
- Adjust the size of clumps based on the number of players to keep the game challenging but manageable.
