Truth Taught:
Penny, small candle, two glasses (one small enough to fit inside the other), plate, food coloring, lighter
Materials:
Bottle of chocolate sauce, water for washing hands
Instructions
- Place a penny in the center of a plate and add a few drops of food coloring over the penny.
- Light a small candle and place it beside the penny.
- Cover the candle with a small glass, allowing the flame to burn out as the oxygen depletes. As the candle goes out, the liquid will be drawn into the glass, leaving the penny dry.
- Explain: The penny represents us, and the food coloring represents sin. We cannot remove the sin on our own, but Jesus (represented by the candle and glass) takes away our sin, leaving us clean and forgiven.
- Discuss how Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross removes our sin completely when we put our trust in Him.
