Four Corners

Objective:

Be the last player standing by choosing the right corner and avoiding elimination.

Materials Needed:

  • None

Game Setup:

  1. Designate the four corners of the gym or playing area and label them with the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4.
  2. Players will run to a corner of their choice during the game.

How to Play:

  1. The game leader stands in the center of the playing area and closes their eyes while counting down from ten.
  2. While the leader is counting, players run to any one of the four corners.
  3. After counting down, the leader randomly calls out a number (1, 2, 3, or 4) without looking. (Alternatively, the team leader may roll a die to choose the corner with a 5 or 6 meaning everyone is safe.)
  4. The players in the corner with the called number are out and must come sit in the center of the play area.
  5. Anyone who is not standing in a corner when the count ends is also out.
  6. Play continues until only one player remains. That player is declared the winner.
  7. Multiple rounds can be played to give everyone a chance to participate.

Pro Tips:

  • Ensure that players move safely to the corners, reminding them not to push or run into others.
  • Set clear boundaries for the playing area to prevent anyone from running out of bounds or into walls.
  • Consider having players walk quickly instead of running, especially if the playing space is tight, to reduce the risk of collisions.
  • Monitor the game closely to ensure fairness, and adjust the pace to keep the game fun and engaging.
