Objective:
Score points by kicking the ball across the opposing team’s line.
Materials Needed:
- One dodge ball
Game Setup:
- Divide students into two teams.
- Each team stands on opposite baselines of a gym.
- Players on each team are numbered sequentially (e.g., 1, 2, 3 . . .).
How to Play:
- Place the dodge ball in the center of the gym.
- The game leader will call out a number (or two or three numbers).
- The players from both teams with the corresponding number(s) will run to the center of the gym and try to kick the ball across the opposing team’s baseline to score a point. The players not called will “guard their line” by trying to block the ball from crossing the baseline.
- The first team to kick the ball across the opposing baseline scores the point.
- Play continues as the leader calls new numbers or combinations of numbers.
- After each round, reset the ball in the center and repeat.
Pro Tips:
- Ensure students know to avoid overly aggressive play to prevent collisions.
- Instruct players to kick the ball below waist level to avoid injury.
- Have a clear boundary for players to stay within to reduce the chance of running into walls or equipment.
