Heads Up, Seven Up

Objective

To guess which student put your thumb down.

Materials Needed

None

How to Play

  1. Choose seven students to come to the front of the room.
  2. The remaining students close their eyes, put their heads down, and raise one thumb.
  3. The seven students quietly move around the room, each pressing down the thumb of one student, marking them as “selected.”
  4. Once all seven have made their selections, they return to the front of the room, and the leader says, “Heads up, Seven up!”
  5. The selected students look up and stand. One by one, they try to guess which of the seven students pressed down their thumb. If they guess correctly, the selector sits down, and the guesser goes to the front to be a selector in the next round.
  6. Play continues until the leader decides to end the game. There is no winner; it’s just for fun.

Pro Tips

  • Safety Tips: Remind selectors to move quietly and carefully around the room to avoid stepping on or bumping into others.
  • Game Flow Tips: Rotate selectors each round to keep everyone involved and to make sure different students get a chance to participate.
  • Encouragement Tips: After each round, cheer on the students for their guesses and encourage them to pay close attention to details in the next round to improve their guesses.
