Pass the Orange

Objective:

Pass the orange down the line using only your chin, without dropping it or using your hands.

Materials Needed:

  • One orange per team (approximately 8 students per team)

Game Setup:

  1. Divide players into equal teams of about 8 students each.
  2. Have each team stand in a line, side by side.

How to Play:

  1. The first player in line tucks the orange under their chin.
  2. The goal is to pass the orange down the line to the next player, using only chins to hold and transfer the orange. Players may not use their hands.
  3. If the orange is dropped or touched by a player’s hands, the orange is returned to the start of the line, and the team must begin again.
  4. The first team to successfully pass their orange to the end of the line wins the round.
  5. Play multiple rounds if desired, or adjust team sizes for different challenges.

Pro Tips:

  • Make sure players are standing close enough to each other so they can safely pass the orange, but not so close that they feel uncomfortable.
  • Encourage players to be gentle and take their time to avoid dropping the orange or rushing.
  • For safety, remind players to avoid headbutting or accidentally bumping into others during the game.
  • If playing outdoors, ensure the ground is even and free of hazards to prevent falls if players lean forward during the pass.
