Scatter Beach Ball

Objective:

Have fun and stay in the game by avoiding being tagged or sitting down.

Materials Needed:

  • One beach ball

Game Setup:

  1. Have all players stand close together in the center of the playing area.
  2. No teams are required, and there is no set number of winners.

How to Play:

  1. The game leader starts by throwing the beach ball into the air over the players.
  2. The first player to grab the ball can take three steps in any direction.
  3. They have five seconds to decide whether to throw the ball up into the air again or aim to tag another player by throwing it at them.
  4. If a player is tagged by the ball, they must sit down.
  5. If a player catches the ball thrown at them, the player who threw the ball must sit down instead.
  6. Any player who is sitting down can get back up if they are able to grab the ball without moving from their seated spot and successfully tag a standing player.
  7. Play continues until you decide to restart the game, or if you prefer, declare the remaining standing players as winners and begin a new round.

Pro Tips:

  • Ensure players throw the ball gently to avoid injury or overly aggressive play.
  • Set clear boundaries for where players can move to prevent players from wandering too far from the play area.
  • Use a lightweight beach ball to minimize the risk of injury if someone gets hit.
  • Remind players to avoid diving or lunging to grab the ball to prevent collisions or falls.
