The Blob

Objective:

Avoid being tagged by “The Blob” while staying safe.

Materials Needed:

  • None

Game Setup:

  1. Select one student to start as “The Blob.”
  2. All other students spread out and prepare to run away from “The Blob.”

How to Play:

  1. The game begins with “The Blob” chasing and trying to tag the other students.
  2. When “The Blob” tags a student, that student must join hands with “The Blob,” forming a chain.
  3. The newly formed Blob now chases the remaining students, trying to tag more players.
  4. Each time a player is tagged, they join hands with the Blob, and the chain continues to grow.
  5. The game ends when all students have been tagged and become part of “The Blob.”
  6. The last student to be tagged is the winner!

Pro Tips:

  • As the Blob grows larger, it becomes harder to maintain control, especially for younger or smaller students. Make sure that students on the end of the Blob hold on securely but gently to avoid pulling or knocking each other over.
  • Monitor the game closely to ensure that students aren’t running too fast or engaging in rough play.
  • Have the game leader encourage gentle tagging to avoid injury.
  • If needed, pause the game occasionally to allow students to readjust their positions within the Blob, ensuring safety and fair play.
  • Consider limiting the maximum size of the Blob (e.g., breaking it into two smaller Blobs) if the chain gets too large or unwieldy.
